It has been two years since the new Belle Meade Homeowner’s Board of Directors took over. After a successful poll where security and beautification came out as the top priority we took the following actions:
Security – The HOA secured the installation of License Plate Reader cameras at the guard gate. Directly connected to the Miami Police Department it sends an alert when a suspicious/stolen car enters Belle Meade. This is an important enhancement to our neighborhood’s security. Another poll showed that most residents are willing to pay off-duty police officers as roving patrols late at night, which we have been working initiate and hope to complete next year. We work closely with the Miami Police Upper East Side Commander and his team to monitor crime and take action when residents see concerning issues.
Beautification: The HOA re-planted the entrance area, contracted a landscape company to maintain the planters and the pedestrian gate areas and had the city clean the pledge park.
We had Commissioner Christine King and officials to tour Belle Meade to discuss improvement especially upgrading of the kid’s park playground. The government has approved the budget for new playground equipment.
Code Compliance: The HOA transmitted information on non-compliant properties to city code enforcement officials and several houses stopped illegal activity, such as short term rentals and illegal car rental operations.
Infrastructure: In communication with the city, the HOA ensures a functioning water pump to avoid flooding. We worked with FPL and the city for the repair of faulty or inoperable streetlights, replacement of poles, damaged or missing stop signs and repair/cleaning of streets. We are following the Resilience-related projects, especially the Army Corps of Engineers Back Bay Study.
Social Events: We organized popular events like the year-end party, the Cocktail training class, a pizza party and contributed to the Halloween Doggie Parade organized by Grace Lopez.
Finances: Our budget is balanced but we need more members to make sure we can pay for the LPR camera service, which is now a now a recurring cost for the HOA.
